About this speaker

Gena is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian with a strong passion for educating. Her current position is at Oklahoma State University (OSU) as a Teaching Associate Professor and the Dietetic Internship Director. Her professional practice allowed her to gain experience in psychiatrics, pediatrics, diabetes education, and general in-patient nutrition. Gena was awarded Oklahoma Young Dietitian of the Year in 2011. Currently Gena, has taught a number of different courses at the undergraduate and graduate level at OSU.

Currently, she is excited to share her clinical expertise with the rural communities surrounding Stillwater, Oklahoma. The hands-on workshops that are offered by the CANe project not only bridge the gap between nutrition educator and those with Parkinson’s Disease, but these workshops allow research advancement in how nutrition education can play an important and successful role in the disease progression of Parkinson’s Disease. She is passionate about involving students in her work. Her favorite part of her job is helping students become the professionals they want to be.
